up to 160 years? All the Chelonia we have in at the sanctuary have all outlived
their keepability - the owners have got too old!
A lot of the tortoise
that are for sale in pet shops in the UK are wild caught animals that are
smuggled to various eastern european countries where there doesnt seem to be a
lot of difficulty getting paperwork and once they are in europe with paperwork
there is very little to limit the distribution. A lot of the shops dont even
know where the animals come from.
